Why Design A Logo Pair?

Anyone who knows Debby of iQbranding knows that her favorite medium for design is package design. So… naturally, we are often asked – Why would I need a logo pair? Can’t I just use my logo as the core brand for all my products? The short answer is no. Every product has a unique purpose and personality just like a child. If you think of your products as children, you’ll understand that a product, just like your child, deserves a unique name.

In answer to this burning question, we are providing you with an example (below) from Cloud9 Fabrics with their logo pair (Cloud9 Fibers)

When Cloud9 Fabrics launched their line of yarns, they needed a companion logo for Cloud9 Fibers. Sometimes with logo projects, the world is your oyster. Sometimes there are constraints. When designing a logo pair, the question is… How can you keep the same silhouette, branding elements and feeling of the original logo while making the companion (or pair) logo stand on its own?

The solution, in the case of Cloud9 Fibers, was to turn the cloud from the original Cloud9 Fabrics logo into balls of yarn by adding lines that echoed the stripes in their original logo. The knitting needle version was the final choice for Cloud9 Fibers.

They make a good pair.
